Quadro Nuevo brings HAPPY Deluxe to Volksbad Jena

On November 12, 2026, Quadro Nuevo transforms the Volksbad Jena into a sound space between jazz, tango, world music, and Mediterranean lightness. The concert begins at 20:00 and presents the musical world of the album HAPPY Deluxe – inspired by encounters, travels, and the vibrant scenes of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

Between Brazil, the Mediterranean and improvised new territories

Quadro Nuevo combines rhythmic energy with chamber music precision. Saxophone, clarinet, mandolin, accordion, bandoneon, piano, bass, and percussion engage in a lively dialogue. The orchestration remains open to spontaneous turns: sometimes the sound swings into bright heights, sometimes it sparkles like a Mediterranean sea, sometimes a chill atmosphere full of daydreams and night revelry emerges.

Four virtuosos, a distinctive live sound

The ensemble was founded in 1996 by Mulo Francel and Didi Lowka. Together with Andreas Hinterseher and Chris Gall, Quadro Nuevo develops a stage performance that combines technical sovereignty and immediate joy of playing. Francel shapes the evening with saxophone, clarinet, and mandolin, Hinterseher expands the sound image with accordion, bandoneon, vibrandoneon, and trumpet. D.D. Lowka provides bass and percussion, while Chris Gall opens the harmonic spaces with his piano.

HAPPY Deluxe as a musical counter-world

The music of HAPPY Deluxe emerged from experiences in Brazil. The joy and friendliness of many encounters colored the compositions and gave the album its title. In the concert, this positive attitude meets the improvisational freedom of the quartet. This creates a live atmosphere that does not seem superficially buoyant, but celebrates moments of happiness as a conscious artistic counterpoint to crises and everyday life.

An ensemble with international format

Quadro Nuevo has performed in venues from Helsinki to Hong Kong, from the Caucasus to New York's Carnegie Hall. The ensemble stands for world-open sound art and a great closeness to different musical traditions. Several awards and successful releases underline the importance of the group in the German jazz and world music scene.

Conclusion: Music that gets you moving

The concert at Volksbad Jena promises an intense concert experience with warm tones, rhythmic finesse, and surprising improvisational moments. Those who experience Quadro Nuevo live encounter music that evokes wanderlust, dance, relaxation, and virtuosic stage energy. Tickets for the evening are available from 27 euros – a good reason to discover HAPPY Deluxe live.
