Discover Colorful Nature: Watercolor Course for Children in Jena
What does a leaf look like under the microscope? And how can its special shape be made visible with brush and paint? In the four-day autumn holiday program Watercolor Course: Botany Under the Microscope, children aged 10 and up combine creative painting with exciting insights into the plant world.
With Brush, Water, and Curiosity
In the workshop of the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena, participants learn various watercolor painting techniques. They discover how to artistically implement nature motifs, how colors flow into each other, and how unique images emerge from initial sketches. The necessary materials will be provided.
Botany Becomes a Learning Experience
The combination of art and natural science is particularly appealing. Natural objects are examined under the microscope and viewed from unusual perspectives. This child-friendly learning experience sparks curiosity, trains precise observation, and supports age-appropriate creative development.
Shared Holiday Time with Learning Fun
The watercolor course offers children focused time together in an inspiring environment. While experimenting with water, paper, and paint, individual works of art are created. Children’s laughter, amazement, and the joy of creating themselves make this family experience a special holiday moment.
Important Notes for Families
The workshop is aimed at children aged 10 and up and takes place from Tuesday, October 13, to Friday, October 16, 2026, each day from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Prior registration was required. The course is already fully booked. The event is suitable as a bad weather option and is marked as barrier-free.
Conclusion: Seeing Nature with New Eyes
The watercolor course combines artistic experimentation, scientific exploration, and focused holiday time. Children experience how creative images are born from precise observation. Those who managed to secure a spot can look forward to a colorful family experience filled with fun, imagination, and many small discoveries.
