Autumn Vacation Program: Tinkering, Exploring, and Creating a Small Book
During the autumn vacation period, the workshop of the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena transforms into a creative discovery place for children, families, and curious adults. The family experience on October 20, 2026, focuses on experimenting, building, and shared fun in learning.
Free Tinkering with Many Building Materials
Electro construction kits invite playful exploration of technical connections. With Kapla blocks, magnetic building sets, as well as marbles and wooden trains, children can create their own ideas, small constructions, and always find new solutions. Children directly experience how curiosity, experimentation, and patience lead to exciting results.
Creative Plus 1: A Small Book
As a special plus, a small book will be created on October 20. This combines manual work with imagination and first experiences related to stories, images, and personal design ideas. The activity addresses different interests and offers a child-friendly learning experience with visible results.
Aged Appropriately for Children and Adults
The offer is aimed at everyone aged five and older. Older siblings, parents, and grandparents are also welcome. This creates shared time in which children can tinker independently and adults can accompany the discovery process. The open design supports curiosity, fine motor skills, concentration, creative thinking, and cooperative learning.
Workshop on Level 0
The event takes place in the workshop on Level 0 of the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena. The protected indoor environment provides a suitable setting for focused building, crafting, and experimenting. Families can discover the materials at their own pace and experience children’s laughter, wonder, and moments of success together.
Free Entry and Family-Friendly
Entry is free. This makes the vacation program a low-threshold opportunity to connect culture, education, and shared experimentation. The focus is on a safe environment, age-appropriate activities, and joy in one's own actions.
