Game On in Jena: Fun, Team Spirit, and Children's Laughter
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena invites children up to 12 years old to a diverse family experience revolving around board games and gaming. In the workshop on level 0, digital gaming worlds on the Nintendo Switch meet classic board games. Registration is not required.
Playing Together on the Nintendo Switch
Whether together or against each other: At the console, children experience exciting gaming moments and discover how much joy shared gaming brings. Understanding rules, making decisions, being considerate, and staying fair are part of the child-friendly learning experiences that naturally arise during play.
Board Games Foster Curiosity and Development
For those who prefer drawing cards, moving pieces, or solving puzzles together, the board games provide an analog alternative. While planning, experimenting, and solving small tasks, children train concentration, communication, and strategic thinking. Dealing with wins and losses also strengthens social development and frustration tolerance.
An Open Meeting Place for Children Up to 12 Years Old
Game On combines leisure, media experience, and collaborative learning in a protected indoor space of the Ernst-Abbe-Library. Children can discover new games, make contacts, and contribute their own game ideas. The open design makes the afternoon a low-threshold family event without registration effort.
Conclusion: Controllers, Cards, and Plenty of Learning Fun
Game On offers children up to 12 years old a varied time together with Nintendo Switch, board games, and new play partners. Families experience a free indoor family event that combines children's laughter, curiosity, social development, and fun in play. Save the date now and discover the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena as a playful meeting place.
