On Invention Saturday, curious minds become little inventors
At the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena, a family experience full of children's laughter, fun learning, and creative ideas awaits. On Invention Saturday, children and adults can try out, build, and discover together – completely without performance pressure and with plenty of room for their own solutions.
Build circuits and discover physics in a playful way
Shining eyes appear when a personal circuit grows from individual components. With electronics and electrical building kits, families can explore how electricity works in a child-friendly way. The self-explanatory instructions support an age-appropriate learning experience and invite participants to proceed independently step by step.
Construct, experiment, and realize own ideas
Construction kits, Kapla, and marble run experiment sets offer diverse opportunities for creative building. Children develop their own models, test stability, and modify their constructions. In the process, fine motor skills, spatial thinking, concentration, and problem-solving thinking are playfully stimulated.
Shared time for children and adults
Invention Saturday is aimed at curious visitors of all ages. Parents, grandparents, and children experience together how an idea becomes a functioning structure. This strengthens the sense of community and makes technical connections understandable through personal engagement.
Child-friendly, open, and accessible
The event takes place in the workshop on level 0 of the Ernst-Abbe-Library. The venue is accessible. The open participatory atmosphere gives families the chance to tinker at their own pace and choose suitable tasks for different developmental stages.
Conclusion: A family trip with aha moments
Invention Saturday combines playing together with valuable learning experiences. Families can expect creative building ideas, exciting experiments, and many small successes. Those who want to experience technology, construction, and curious experimentation live will find an inspiring place for shared time in the workshop of the Ernst-Abbe-Library.
