Own game ideas come to life in Jena
How is a computer game created? In the workshop Programming Games with Witelo, children aged 10 and up discover the creative world of Scratch. At the Lobeda district library, collaborative tinkering, digital learning, and plenty of fun come together for a unique family experience.
Programming with images, ideas, and children's laughter
Scratch makes initial programming experiences child-friendly and visual. Instead of complicated lines of code, participants work with colorful building blocks, figures, and movements. Step by step, their own game ideas, small sequences, and interactive stories come to life.
Age-appropriate fun with Witelo
The Witelo e.V. invites interested children aged 10 and up to explore digital connections themselves. The event fosters curiosity, logical thinking, creativity, and the ability to break problems down into manageable steps. This learning experience simultaneously strengthens digital independence and confidence in their own ideas.
Tinkering together in the library
The workshop takes place every Friday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM outside of school holidays. The quiet environment of the Ernst-Abbe Library provides space for focused experimentation, questions, and joint discovery. The session is led by Dr. Nico Bergemann.
Conclusion: Get started, experiment, develop your own games
In programming with Scratch, children experience that a first idea can turn into their own digital game through experimentation. Families can expect a child-friendly event filled with curiosity, a sense of community, and practical digital education. Those who enjoy tinkering will find an inspiring time together in Lobeda.
