On Tinkering Saturday, the workshop becomes an adventure playground
Curious children, families, and adults discover the joy of building, trying, and inventing during Tinkering Saturday at the Ernst-Abbe-Library Jena. In the workshop on level 0, construction, electronics, and electrical kits, Kapla blocks, as well as marble run experiments await creative minds.
Building circuits and experiencing physics playfully
A personal circuit brings ideas to light: With electronics kits, children explore basic connections of electricity and physics in a child-friendly way. Hands-on experimentation promotes concentration, logical thinking, and the joy of independent learning.
Free ideas, grand structures, and small moments of success
With construction kits, own creations are formed, while Kapla and marble run sets invite planning, testing, and changing. The self-explanatory instructions provide guidance while also leaving room for imagination, teamwork, and individual learning experiences.
A family experience for curious tinkerers
Tinkering Saturday combines quality time with learning fun. Children and adults tinker side by side, exchange ideas, and experience how a first attempt turns into a functioning structure. This strengthens self-confidence, perseverance, and the joy of technical connections.
Practical information for families
The event takes place on Saturday, 31 October 2026, during opening hours from 10:00 to 17:00 in the workshop on level 0. The offer is free of charge. The Ernst-Abbe-Library is located at Engelplatz 2 in Jena.
